The main objective of this thesis is to determine the feasibility of using a driving simulator and its potential to increase the likelihood of returning to driving by clients with acquired brain injury in the chronic stage. The first sub-objective is to investigate the influence of driving simulator training on attention and the potential to increase the likelihood of returning to driving by clients with acquired brain injury in the chronic stage. Suggestions for spiritual care for persons with acquired brain injury

This thesis deals with the area of spiritual care for persons that suffered a traumatic brain injury, stroke or another brain damage at adult age. It describes what these people have to go through after termination of acute treatment, what are their needs and coping strategies. It presents results of researches dealing with correlation between spirituality/religiosity and managing of unfavourable circumstances connected with the health condition, therapy and rehabilitation. It summarises the recommendations for suitable adjustment of spiritual care to somatic, communication, cognitive and psychosocial changes, which may occur as a result of the brain injury. It pays special attention to the use of expressive therapies and supplementary methods thanks to which it is possible to reflect spiritual topics also in other ways than in a classical conversation.
Nutritional interventions for patients with brain injuries and movement limitations

Patients with acquired brain damage, who are attending rehabilitation day-care center on the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of the General Hospital and the First Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague, are often limited by fatigue and lack of energy. Patients are attending day hospital mainly with brain damage acquired after stroke and less often also after brain trauma. Secondary prevention of atherosclerosis development or progression and prevention of stroke relapse is very important with these patients. Nutritional intervention plays significant role in prevention and treatment of many risk factors of an atherosclerotic artery damage. Common consequence of brain damage is development of secondary sarcopenia. Patient in day hospital must bring their own food. Individualized program as a result from examination by the multidisciplinary team doesn't include nutritional assessment. Study with patients with acquired brain damage was carried out on Department of Rehabilitation. Study used bioelectrical impedance analysis provided by InBody 370 S. Brain injury is a common cause of disability in the adult population. The aim of the thesis is to find out how the quality of life with people after acquired brain injury changes depending on the attendance of a day care centre. Furthermore, the aim is to determine if there is a correlation between subjective WHODAS 2.0 and objektive FIM data. Šárka Altmanová Vedoucí práce: PhDr. Kristýna Hoidekrová, Ph.D. Title: Distance therapy and telerehabilitation in occupational therapy: contemporary use in patients after acquired brain injuries Abstract: Acquired brain injuries (ABI) are the most represented type of injuries in neurorehabilitation. In the Czech Republic, there is a shortage of outpatient occupational therapists. The involvement of telerehabilitation appears to be a possible solution to the lack of therapists. These methods are already being used with a good effect around the world. The aim of this thesis is to compare the possibilities of telerehabilitation against conventional occupational therapy in patients with ABI. A partial goal is to undertake a SWOT analysis of telerehabilitation and evaluate the communication platform eAmbulance. There are four single case studies. The patients are aged between 27-81 years (two women and two men) with different severity of right-sided hemiparesis. These patients underwent interventions of 60 minutes per week for a period of four weeks. The content of each therapy was different. The focus of the thesis is to create a Czech version of DTVP-A:2 and its pilot testing with 4 patients who suffered Acquired Brain Injury. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the problems of Acquired Brain Injury, visual perception, visual perception disorders and assessment of visual perception from occupational therapy standpoint. Title: Executive function assessment in patients with acquired brain damage: Translation and clinical use of the "Weekly Calendar Planning Activity" Abstract: Executive functions are absolutely essential for everyday life and when they are violated, a person is often severely limited in all areas of their life. People with a disorder of these functions tend to have problems, for example with starting an activity and planning individual steps, or are unable to complete the activity correctly and efficiently. Executive functions are localized primarily in the area of the frontal lobes and when they are damaged, an executive deficit is manifested. Clinically, the impairment of executive functions manifests itself in very diverse ways. The degree and severity of the disability depends on many factors, such as the etiology of the acquired brain damage, its location or education of the patient. Co-ordinated rehabilitation after acquired brain injury

The thesis focuses on coordinated rehabilitation with persons after acquired brain injury and they are healing in rehabilitation institute in Kladruby. Purpose of this work is to describe total health and social situtation of adressed clients, which began them and their family after acquired brain injury. The thesis is divided into two main parts - the theoretical part & the research part. The teoretical part includes familiarization with the topic of the diploma. It is divided into seven main chapters. The first and the second part include divison, description and function of the nervous systém & of the brain anatomy. The third chapter is focused on acquired brain injury and its division into strokes, traumatic brain injuries a non-traumatic brain injury. The fourth chapter explains coordinated rehabilitation and its parts - therapeutic, social, educational and work rehabilitation. The fifth chapter theme is preventive function of the rehabilitation, which is very important part of human health either and it is closely connected with risk factors. The sixth chaptor divides individual rehabilitation facilities. The seventh chapter theme is the care in rehabilitation institute in Kladruby. It is described acquaintance with history of the insitute, acquintace with present of the institute and acquaintance with the vision of the rehabilitation care in the future in this rehabilitaion institute. Chapter includes division of complex care provided in rehabilitation facility. The research part includes given goals & research questions. The research and the diploma are supported with agree of ethics comittee of rehabiliation institute in Kladruby. The main goal of this work is to describe basic health and social problems at addressed clients. Partial goal is to identify the most beneficial component of coordinated rehabilitation during the visit the rehabilitation facility. Two research questions are established following research goals. The first question is to find which limits addressed clients perceive as the most essentials. The second question is to describe the intervention which are rated by clients withing the rehabiliation as the most beneficial. In the theoretical part is discribed, which method is the work processed and which methods was used. It explains the choice of research sample of clients, thanks to them, this work is writed. In this work is used the method of qualitative research. The research file is selected by deliberate selection of clients and it is created by four clients - the two women and the two men. All of the addressed clients were acquainted with goals of this work, with the research questions and with possible acquisition of this work in healing the persons after acquired brain injury. The techniques of the data collection is semi-structured interview. The interviews were realized in quiet ambience during the healing of clients in rehabilitation institute. The analysis of the interviews were processed in Atlas.ti 8 software. Resultant diploma informations describe and explain the health and social problems, which are formating to the clients after the brain damage and which way the problems influence their actual life. Next, the results identify priorit part of the coordinated rehabilitation and the sigle components of the complex rehabilitation. It is focused closely on the main part of healing rehabiliton, these are physiotherapy and ergotherapy. The results describe healing in rehabilitation institute in Kladruby, they show importance of the coordinated rehabilitation for persons after brain damage and suitability of rehabilitaion facilities, where is complex care of clients realized.
